From risk to
reassurance
My first proper job was Careers Adviser. As part of this role, I learned an advice, guidance and counselling model and interviewed school students with the goal to engage young people and enable them to make well-informed, realistic career decisions and implement them.
This is how I have conducted my business providing healthcare and protection products. But it is more than this now as I now feel I have a responsibility to my potential clients; almost as a duty of care and if I don’t make them aware of the potential problems of switching their healthcare policy or the implications they may face if a director or a key employee was to die, then I’m not doing my job properly. And this is still under-pinned sub-consciously by a model I learned 20 years ago.
